City of Marion commissioners voted Monday to proceed to the next step toward authorizing the sale of bonds to finance electric and water system improvements.

City workers installed a light Monday above the big M located east of Warrior Stadium. The light is solar powered and will shine directly on the M.

Three foreign exchange students are attending Marion High School this year. Haroldo Tinoco is from Brazil, Eva Patejko is from Poland, and Stefan Makowski is from Germany. They will be living with host families for 10 months.

Many reported 29 and 30 degrees temperatures this Monday morning. There is a lot of wheat still to be planted and milo to be cut. If the rain holds off, farmers will be busy in the fields this week.

Marion County Sheriff Dan Harper spent two weeks at Longmont, Colo., where he participated in an executive development program of the National Sheriff’s Institute.
