Marion County Commission approved an agreement Monday with KC Development to provide recycling services in the county.

Dozens of children participated Friday in the Marion Chamber of Commerce Halloween costume contest. Winners by age groups were Jared Hague (train), Ashley Smith (witch), Hunter Spencer (Zorro), and Alyssa Seacat (Cleopatra). Prizes were furnished by Carlsons’ IGA and Marion True Value Hardware.

Congressman Jerry Moran announced this week that he has appointed Richard Schwartz of Marion, a retired U.S. Marine Corps colonel, to serve on the Service Academy Selection Board.

Work continues on a ramp to make the first floor of Hill School fully accessible to the disabled. The existing staircase in the east entryway has been removed and a switchback ramp will be installed. The ramp will be sheathed in cut stone, similar to the building exterior.
