Following an executive session Monday, the City of Marion decided not to join Peabody, Burns, and Hillsboro in a proposed suit against Marion County. The suit would challenge the county’s efforts for a recycling program, which would make it mandatory that all residences and businesses in Marion County pay a monthly recycling fee.

Jim Helmer, Marion Warriors halfback and defensive back, and Justin Hett, defensive end, have been named to the first team of the All-Cottonwood Valley football team.

Marion County Home Care is celebrating its 20th anniversary this month.

An established act and eight possible future stars will be featured Saturday in the True Value/Jimmy Dean Country Showdown concert in Marion. Academy of Country Music winner John Conlee is the headline act.
