Slick, a three-year-old buckskin quarter horse owned by Jonnie Johnson of El Dorado, pulled a surrey through downtown Marion Sunday. Rides in the auto-top surrey were sponsored by the Marion Chamber of Commerce.
Frances Kreutziger of Marion was the first winner in the “Christmas on Us!” contest sponsored by the Marion County Record. Five weekly winners will receive $50 gift certificates.
Marion High School students Meredith Moore, Matt Schuler, and Mark Hanson will play the leading roles in “She Was Only Marginally Modest,” a melodrama students will perform Saturday and Sunday in the municipal auditorium.
Jaime Leigh and her band Thunderstruck won the True Value-Jimmy Dean Country Showdown regional talent competition held Saturday in Marion. Leigh now advances to the national finals Dec. 15 at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tenn.
