Larry and Deana Olsen, owners of Cottonwood Miniature Horses, Marion, are creating a new business called Tiny Trials. It will provide people with the unique experience of walking a nature trail accompanied by a miniature horse.

Becky Makovec was named city “employee of the month” at Monday’s meeting of the Marion City Commission. Mayor Max Hayen presented to her a certificate and a cash/gift coupon as an award.

Richard Bredemeier, representing the MHS Class of 1950, presented a check for $2,000 to Marion City Librarian Janet Marler on Old Settlers’ Day. Library official are raising funds to renovate the former Santa Fe depot into a modern library.

The main highlight of the seventh annual Old Settlers’ golf tournament on Friday was a hole-in-one by Chris Webb on the #3 green. Seven golfers and Webb watched the ball go into the cup.

“Beary Special Babies” born this month at St. Luke Hospital were Tori Ann Shultz, born Sept. 9 and Michaela Jeanne Regnier, who arrived Sept. 29.

Heath and Heather Tajchman were crowned homecoming king and queen Friday night at the Marion-Chase County football game. The twins are children of Charles and Kay Tajchman of Marion.
