Marion has annexed 10 acres of property northeast of Marion and has received a request to annex about 400 acres of property, which includes the active quarry now leased by Martin-Marietta Aggregates.

Cottonwood Valley Bank’s branch at Burns was severely damaged Wednesday afternoon when the top portion of the east wall collapsed into the street.

Norman and Vivian Mueller left by car Sept. 20 for a trip to visit relatives in South Dakota, Oregon, California, and Colorado.

Denice Bina, Lincolnville, began duties Oct. 9 as a postal clerk at the United States Post Office at Marion. She also works occasionally as a city carrier. She spent the last three years as a substitute rural mail carrier at Marion.

Forrest and Joyce Smith drove to Fort Collins, Colo., last week to attend homecoming ceremonies at Colorado State University and Forrest’s 50th anniversary class reunion.

John Barr, D.O., started work Monday at St. Luke Medical Clinic. He spent the weekend working in St. Luke Hospital, seeing patients, and taking emergency calls. The Barrs have two sons, John, in sixth grade, and Justin, in kindergarten.

Floyd Yaussi, died Oct. 12, 2000, at Longmont, Colo. Formerly a highly successful basketball coach at Marion High School, he was well known and highly regarded.
