Nikki Rogers, Marion High School student, participated in the 17th annual Kansas Masonic all-state high school marching band camp July 25 through 29 at Washburn University, Topeka. Nikki was sponsored by Marion Chapter #278, Order of Eastern Star.

The 24th annual Leo Jirak family reunion was held Aug. 6 at the senior center in Tampa. It was hosted by Bill and Marie Davis of Manhattan.

The Babe Ruth CVL Eagles team won the state Babe Ruth tournament last week in Ottawa. Forty-eight hours later, they represented Kansas in the Midwest Regional at Bismarck, N.D. They finished in third place with three wins and two losses. The team was coached by Raymond Bina with Tom Holub as assistant coach.

Members of the first 4-H royalty in Marion County were crowned Aug. 9 at the fairgrounds. Kaleb Borg of South Cottonwood 4-H Club was king and Maria Jirak of Tampa Triple Ts was queen. Their attendants were Natalie Carlson of Lincolnville Wide Awake 4-H and Luci Frantz of South Cottonwood 4-H.

Matt Wineinger, Marion High School graduate who is vice president with Excel Corporation, will be speaker Aug. 29 at the Leadership Marion County graduation dinner.
