St. Luke Hospital and Living Center administrator Craig Hanson announced this past week that John T. Barr, D.O., has agreed to join the medical practice of Marion Family Physicians. It marks the end of more than two years of searches, interviews, and negotiating to find another physician.

Following a 30-minute executive session of the Marion City Commissioners, Mayor Max Hayen announced that the decision on whether or not to annex the Baxter land just east of the Pizza Hut, adjacent to U.S. 56, had been postponed until Sept. 18.

Emmanuel Baptist Church of Marion is celebrating its 100th anniversary Sunday.

Bishop Eugene Gerber of Wichita was the celebrant of Mass Sunday morning at St. John Nep. Church in Pilsen. The Bishop presented the parish with a collage depicting Father’s Emil Kapaun’s life. The collage was accepted by Father Stephen Gronert and Terry Vinduska.

The sons of Ron and Anna Kristek, Lincolnville, are real rodeo cowboys. Jeremy won first place at the rodeo held in Junction City. Brother Adam took second place. Casey won the mutton bustin’ contest at the Marion County Fair, and four-year-old Caleb rides the muttons, too.
