Numerous charges are pending against four people in connection with investigations of mail thefts from Marion, Durham, and Florence post offices this past week.

Award-winning photojournalist Larry Hatteberg will be the guest speaker Monday at the Marion Chamber of Commerce annual meeting.

Centre High School basketball king and queen candidates for the 2001 Homecoming are Jarod Beneke, C.J. Irwin, Greg Klenda, Tyson Ryff, Renee Ecklund, Gundula Keller, Megan Luna, Dawn Luna, and Meghan Leihy.

Jochen Hein, a Namibia, Africa native, was a guest Jan. 17 at the home of Rocky and Shirley Jo Hett. Rocky and several other hunting partners spent several days this past year hunting on Hein’s hunting range of more than 14,000 acres in Nambibia.

Randall Steinert of Wichita, formerly of Tampa, has been promoted to senior vice president and auditor of Emprise Financial Corporation. He is the son of Agnes Steinert of Hillsboro.

Kati Bergren, granddaughter of Francis and Betty May of Marion, has received the Fort Hays University Athletic Department’s Academic Excellence Award. Kati is a junior majoring in physical education and currently plays centerfield for the Tigers softball team.
