Utilities and access roads may be installed in Batt Industrial Park this summer if a tenant with “significant employee base” comes to Marion, city commissioners heard Tuesday from Administrator Dennis Nichols.

Chingawassa Days 2001, June 1 to 3, will headline Three Dog Night as its main event at the Saturday night concert.

Extensive remodeling is taking place at 1116 East Main Street, Marion, to convert the facility to headquarters for Shawmar Oil and Gas. Marion Auto Mart, which has been leasing the space, has moved to 1501 Lori Lane.

Sara Zogelman and Blake Conyers were named Marion High School Queen and King of Courts Feb. 13. The event was postponed from the previous Friday due to severe weather.

Bill Darrow, sixth grade teacher at Marion Elementary School, will be honored Saturday as Marion County Conservation District Teacher of the Year. Darrow was selected in part due to his role in establishing and maintaining the outdoor classroom at Marion Elementary School, and its use in teaching conservation and respect for natural resources.
