City of Marion officials will hold a public meeting March 26 to discuss the proposed city sales tax that will be on the April 3 ballot. The city is seeking a three- quarter-cent sales tax to help fund the construction of an industrial park.
More than 200 animals were seized and five people arrested Monday following investigations by the Kansas Animal Health Department and the Marion County Sheriff’s Department. First appearance of those taken into custody will take place Wednesday in Marion County District Court.
Eileen Sieger presented the program at the March meeting of 20th Century Club. Sieger showed the group different blooming orchids and gave a presentation about the care they need, the different species of orchids, and interesting information she has gained since she began growing them.
Marion High School senior Sarah Versch will participate in the 2001 Kansas Junior Miss state finals next week in Belleville.
Kelley Jae Hett, Marion, graduated summa cum laude this past December from Wichita State University.
Births announced in this issue include a son, Jared Lee, born March 9 to Rob and Katie Rahe of Marion and a daughter, Lindsey DeAnn, born March 8 to Preston and Michelle Thole Withers of Copeland.
Senior Jamey Cooper and junior Braxton Skiles were named to the All-CVL first and second basketball teams, respectively.
