Receiving an invitation in the mail from President and Mrs. Bush is a fantastic event according to several people in the Burdick community who were lucky enough to receive just such an invitation. The engraved invitation was for the swearing-in of former Senator Howard Baker who is appointed ambassador to Japan. Ambassador Baker is married to the former U.S. Senator Nancy Kassebaum, who owns a ranch near Burdick. Several Burdick residents attended the ceremony at Washington, D.C.

‘Beary Special Babies” born this month at St. Luke Hospital include Elise Eleanor Schlehuber born June 3; Evan Spencer Abbott, June 16; and Maria Elizabeth Stuchlik, June 29.

Marion Stadium is no longer the pinkish tan shade of recent years. It has been painted gray with red and blue accents. Other work to be completed at the stadium this summer includes additional seating and a fence around the track.

Les Kitchenmaster, Lost Springs, has sold his Oiltizer publication to a Houston company. The last mailing from Lost Springs went out Tuesday. Lost Springs Postmaster Diane Ecklund said the loss of the twice-monthly mailing will mean quite a drop in revenue for
