Marion County Hospital District One signed a lease agreement Thursday with Prairie View, providing the mental health services provider with more space for more money. The lease is for three years, with automatic renewal for another three years unless notice is given.

Marion’s oldest church will turn 130 this Sunday. The church began Aug. 8, 1866, with its first Sunday school. Later, the Presbyterian Church of Marion Centre was formed.

A group of more than 25 people attended a meeting in the basement of the city building Thursday to explore the potential of an assisted living complex for Marion. The local audience included potential investors and people in the health care field. No decisions were made.

Produce Derby winner this week, is Ken Vinduska, Marion. He is pictured showing a couple of the Red Nectar tomatoes his garden produced. One weighed one and three-quarter pounds, the other two and one-eighth pounds.

Vern and Madelyn Vogel attended a dinner in Washington, D.C., June 27 honoring President and Mrs. George W. Bush and Vice President and Mrs. Dick Cheney.
