Co-chairman Judy Christensen estimated about 35,000 attended the 23rd annual Art in the Park Saturday in Marion’s beautiful Central Park. At least 145 arts and crafts booths were available, featuring vendors from 10-12 states and including several local artisans. At least 20 vendors were at the event for the first time.

After 15 years as city commissioner, Larry Reiswig has resigned as Marion’s finance commissioner. Reiswig and his family are moving to Salina where he has accepted a new position with Central National Bank there.

Nils Holtmann called from Berlin, Germany, Thursday to wish the Roger “Bud” Hannaford family best wishes and to show his concern for the terrorist attack on America. Nils was one of two German exchange students who stayed with LaVonne and Bud Hannaford while attending Marion High School.

Among those recognized at the University of Kansas Honors program held Sept. 12 at McPherson were Marion High School students Maggie Powers, Stacia Williams, Kelsey Craig, Braxton Skiles, and Rebekah Taylor.

Jerry and Enid Cady are grateful to be back in Marion after being in Washington, D.C., during the Sept. 11 terrorist attack.
