Nitty Gritty Dirt Band performed Friday during a benefit concert for St. Luke Foundation as part of the third annual Chingawassa Days. A crowd of more than 1,500 enjoyed the concert in Marion’s Central Park during perfect weather.

A reunion of members of Marion High School Class of 1934 was held Saturday noon at Stone City Café. Following the meal, the group went to the home of Lois and June Jost for visiting.

Aulne United Methodist Women visited Barkman Honey Company in Hillsboro for their June meeting. Doug Bartel conducted an informative tour of the plant. Ten members and four guests enjoyed the afternoon.

Kansas Walleye Association will be visiting Marion Reservoir Sunday to host the Marion Open Walleye Tournament, which is open to all walleye fishermen age 16 or older.

Edith Warneke donated a framed crewel embroidery depiction of Marion’s Santa Fe Depot to Mayor Max Hayen at this week’s city commission meeting. She made the picture in 1977. Warneke asked that it hang in the former depot, which now houses the Marion Chamber of Commerce office and someday will become Marion City Library.
