The year 2000 is here and everyone is relieved that no crises arose over the date change. About 500 people of all ages attended the New Year’s Eve celebration Friday in Marion. Police officers reported no problems as the crowd dispersed, many singing a chorus of “Auld Lang Syne.”
Marion National Bank’s time/temperature sign registered in the high 60s and even 70 degrees on Sunday. It was one of those delightful winter days with balmy temperature. Things changed rapidly on Monday. Though the temperature was barely freezing, snow fell all day. The accumulation was six inches.
Marion High School FFA will recycle natural Christmas trees. Members will collect trees free of charge from Marion residents. The trees will be taken to Marion Reservoir to improve fish habitat.
DuWayne Suffield has bought Trapp’s Plumbing and Well Service from Quinn Trapp and has established an expanded business called Suffield Heating, Cooling, and Plumbing.
