This week the land east of the former home of Ann Rathert was donated to the City of Marion to be used as “Ann’s Park.” Her children said they deeded the land to the city to be used as a park and a memorial to their mother.
People of Burdick and surrounding communities are reeling from a triple shooting that occurred Saturday. Preliminary findings are that David L. Johnson, 50, shot his wife Sabrina and his mother-in-law Martha Kortje of Peabody before shooting himself. The women are listed in serious condition and are expected to recover. Johnson died at the scene.
Marion High School seniors, Jerel Mulvenon and Samantha Collett, were crowned 2000 King and Queen of Courts Friday evening. Royalty crowned that night at Centre were Micah Jones and Colleen Belton.
Harry and Theodora Koslowsky recently spent a month in Nairobi, Kenya, visiting their son, Jim, and his family.
