Elgin Apartments, a 21-unit complex established in a historic hotel, will be sold at 10 a.m. March 25. Owner Florence Anderson said it was simply time to retire.

An investor’s group in Marion is raising funds to build a structure for at least one business to be located at the retail/light industrial park near U.S.-56.

Dorothy Varenhorst has decided to retire and is closing Van’s Department Store, which she has owned and operated for 54 years in downtown Marion.

Members of MHS Class of 1946 and their spouses have just returned from a 7-day Caribbean cruise.

Ralph and Phyllis Kreutziger of Marion are seasoned “VIMs.” They have spent part of their vacation time during the past five or six years as “Volunteers in Mission,” a program of the Kansas West Conference of the United Methodist Church.

Gerald Rziha of Tampa is the recipient of Marion County Conservation District’s first Grassland award.
