The city of Marion agreed, Monday, to hire Walters Morgan Construction of Manhattan to build a new clear well and make other improvements at the municipal water plant.

Several Marion High School students will spend March 19-25 in Washington, D.C., as part of the Close Up Foundation government studies program. Those attending will be Kelly Becker, James Meier, Sarah Versch, and Camille Wessel.

The farmstead of Brad and Kathy Backhus, 3073 Nighthawk, southeast of Tampa, experienced damage during the high winds that blew through the area on March 7 and 8.

Six prisoners from El Dorado Correctional Facility were in Marion March 7. They discussed their lives with Marion Middle School students and Marion Elementary School sixth graders.

Work continues on the new U.S. post office at Lincolnville. The modular unit was set on its foundation with the use of a large crane. An identical facility recently was completed at Burns.
