Marion County Record editor Bill Meyer received the Karl and Dorothy Gaston Outstanding Mentoring Award Saturday at the annual meeting of the Kansas Press Association. Recommendations for the award came from the Marion County Record staff, 20 former Marion County Record reporters and interns, Attorney General Carla Stovall, Rep. Jerry Moran, and former U.S. Senator Nancy Kassebaum Baker.

Participants in the Friendship Meals program have bid farewell to longtime cook, Henrietta Waner, and her assistant, Lois Johnson. And, they have welcomed their new cook, Karen Kline.

Four students from Marion High School participated in Washington Close Up March 10-24 in Washington, D.C. Camille Wessel, Sarah Versch, James Meier, and Kelly Becker attended along with counselor Phoebe Janzen and Debbie Buchholz.
