Marion will host the state tournament for the Cal Ripken Division of the Kansas Babe Ruth League July 20-24. Mayor Max Hayen signed a contract Monday with the league. Marion hosted a similar tournament two years ago.

Marion High School teacher and Coach Grant Thierolf is a presenter Aug. 2-4 at the 68th annual coaching school sponsored by the Kansas State High School Athletic Association.

The Kentucky HeadHunters are committed to performing at Chingawassa Days even though one member suffered a mild heart attack earlier this month. Guitarist Richard Young is expected to make a full recovery following an incident May 6 when he became ill during a concert in Oklahoma City.
