The architectural firm of Pettijohn/Kinney has been hired to design restoration of the historic Santa Fe depot to become an expanded Marion Library. The firm performed the initial and interior plans for the depot conversion, and helped the city get a $600,000-plus construction grant approved.

A party is planned for July 29 at the Marion High School cafeteria to honor Rex Wilson on his retirement from coaching.

Mr. and Mrs. Roger Morse observed their 60th wedding anniversary June 27 to July 2 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Slater in Guffey, Colo.

REC children’s summer theater production of “A Hillbilly Wedding” will be offered July 20 and 21 at Marion Municipal Auditorium. Cast members are Justin Brookens, Becky Tharp, Sarah Davidson, Megan Whitaker, Chelsea Arnhold, Rebecca Savage, Courtney Geis, Tedra Eis, Jandee Sharp, Allison Meador, Joe Svitak, Mike Brookens, Tim Schuler, Briana Vogel, Thad Nichols, T.C. Edwards, Andrew Bina, Hannah Eis, and Cory Hemstead.

Men in the Youngtown area have been advised to keep watch on their young calves and sheep as a cougar has been seen in that neighborhood.
