Central National Bank, with three banking facilities in Marion County, has announced the acquisition of five banks in north-central Kansas and one in southern Nebraska.

Aaron and Lanell Hett, Nickolas, Travis, and Lindsay have just returned from a week’s trip to Morristown, N.J., where they visited their uncle, aunt, and family, Lew and LaVonda Rothman, Samantha, Marni, Shane, and Luke.

Marion County Relay for Life exceeded its $20,000 goal Saturday with donations continuing to arrive.

A drawing was held for participants in the 1999 summer reading program, “Treasure Your Library.” Grades kindergarten through sixth winners received a pirate book. They were Michael Kirkpatrick, kindergarten; Kayley Heerey, first grade; Matt Thierolf, second grade; Keith Jones, third grade; Emily Svoboda, fourth grade; Jessica Bernhardt, fifth grade; and Samantha Hett, sixth grade.
