In a project started by first grade classes, Marion Elementary School students raised more than $750 for a fund designated to aid families of emergency workers killed and injured in the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
Marion High School homecoming king and queen will be selected Friday during the varsity football game. Queen candidates are Maggie Powers, Tina McCarty, and Stacia Williams. King candidates are Robert Verbic, Andrew Brookens, and Braxton Skiles.
“Beary Special Babies” born in St. Luke Hospital during the month of September were Sarah Marie Schafer, Sept. 20; and Ethan Wayne Hendricks, Sept. 26.
Candidates for Centre High School homecoming royalty are Sara Houdyshell, Natalie Carlson, Stephanie Hajek, Andrea Stahlecker, Justin Makovec, Grant Garrard, Carmen Mille, and Todd Beneke.
Floats receiving top honors Saturday in the Old Settlers’ Day parade were Valley United Methodist Church, Marion High School freshman class, and Animal Health Center of Marion County.
“See How They Run,” a three-act farce will be performed Saturday and Sunday by the fledgling community theatre group. The play is directed by Donna Dyar.
