St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, Holy Family Parish at Pilsen, is undergoing renovation. A new paint job is expected to take approximately four months, followed by installation of new carpet.

Members of the 1950 class of Marion High School recently enjoyed a six-day cruise to the western Caribbean. Those attending were Tim and Nancy Burkholder of Weston, Conn., Nora Zeller Conyers of Fairbury, Neb., Cecil and Dolores Razor Guthrie of Wichita, Jim and Donna Fruechting, Lavonne and Roger Hannaford, Dorothy Adams Conyers, Dick and Evelyn Bredemeier, and Joyce Keazer Hett, all of Marion. Matt and Mary Kay Classen of Marion were guests with the group.

Junior Eric Smith and Stacia Williams, senior, were named students of the month of October by the faculty of Marion High School.

University of Kansas pharmacy students, David Rziha of Tampa and Kevin McCullough of Atchison spent Tuesday at Marion Health Mart Pharmacy, assisting pharmacist and owner Marlin Buccholz. The students are in their second year of graduate studies.

Marion Chamber of Commerce members and city officials attended a ribbon cutting ceremony Tuesday at the U.S. 56 Auto and Truck Wash in the retail park north of U.S. 56 and west of the Pizza Hut.
