The home of Jim and Judy Versch, 126 S. Cedar, Marion, is chosen as the “outstanding” Christmas lighting display for the week.
Adam Svoboda, son of Mary and Terry Svoboda of Marion, placed first in the 2001 “Health is…” contest sponsored by the University of Kansas Medical Center for the Improvement of Human Functioning in Wichita. He will receive a $1,000 savings bond for his poster that used train car motifs to deliver health-related messages.
Thirteen Marion County employees received service pins Monday at the employee Christmas dinner held at Tabor College. Mark Jones received a 25-year pin; JoAnn Knak and Delmer Allen, 20-year pins; Sue Thomas, Joan Watkins, and Harvey Grosse, 15-year pins; Sandra Svoboda and Anita Hopper, 10-year pins; and Loretta Klose, Shawn Voth, Fred Carlson, Charles Park, and Darrin Rhodes, 5-year pins.
Elma Klein of Hillsboro is the first winner of the “Christmas on Us” promotion. Klein received a $25 gift certificate to be redeemed at participating businesses. The grand prize drawing of $1,000 will be held Dec. 22 at Marion City Building.
