Marion City Commissioners toured the former Santa Fe Depot Monday with librarian Janet Marler. The structure is being converted to a library and will double the size of the current library.

A training session was held Jan. 15 for students interested in Marion County Youth Court. About 60 attended from throughout the county. Some are top students academically and behaviorally while others have had real-life involvement with district court and the juvenile justice system.

Herb and Joyce Jackson of Marion enjoyed a visit this past week from Jing Uang, a close friend from their years teaching in China.

Pictured are Julie Kerbs and Phyllis Mueller, employees of the Ramona branch of Tampa State Bank, as they wave goodbye on the last day of business. The bank, which was open Tuesdays and Fridays, closed its doors for good on Friday.

Jayson Hanschu, Hillsboro, is being honored by American Family Insurance Group for being a Life Leader Agent for the year 2001.

It is an honor to be selected to either of the Kansas Music Educators Association’s state choir or orchestra. Marion High School brothers, Andrew and Justin Brookens have each been selected for both and will participate in the workshops and performances Feb. 21-23 in Wichita.
