For the second time in less than six months, Pilsen State Bank at Lincolnville was robbed at gunpoint. The suspect escaped with an undisclosed amount of money, traveling in a white mid-size four-door passenger car. Kurt Spachek, bank president, followed the vehicle in his personal car but gave up the chase after traveling eight miles and reaching a speed of 90 miles per hour.

The smell of paint and new carpet will welcome worshipers at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church Sunday after five months of renovation. All has been made new in the 88-year-old house of worship.

Chelsea Arnhold, daughter of Ken and Teri Arnhold of Marion, competed this past week at a national girls’ wrestling tournament at Lake Orion, Mich.

DuWayne and Jodi Suffield, owners of Suffield Heating, Cooling, and Plumbing, have purchased the former Marion Hardware store building in downtown Marion. They are hoping to open a retail store in May.

Marion High School students Becky Taylor and Joel Versch were named students of the month by the MHS faculty. Taylor, a senior, is the daughter of Mike and Alana Taylor. Versch, a junior, is the son of Jim and Judy Versch.

Lauren McLinden, 6, daughter of Chuck and Lori McLinden, Marion, is a state finalist in the Miss Kansas American Coed Pageant to be held July 19-21 at Overland Park.
