Trent Summers and the New Row Mob, a county-rock group gaining nationwide attention, will appear at Chingawassa Days in Marion. They will open for 38 Special June 1 in Central Park.

Neva Smith is pictured as she cuts a ribbon Friday to officially dedicate renovations at Marion Stadium. Her children, Eric and Steffanie, held the ribbon. Some of the renovations were funded through memorial gifts given in honor of the late Don Smith.

Marion High School pitcher Mitch Enos threw a no-hitter Friday against Wichita Independent. “This is the first no-hitter in Marion High School history,” said Coach Sean Spoonts.

Mayor Eloise Mueller jokingly told newly sworn-in city finance commissioner Larry McLain Monday, “We can’t talk to you anymore.” The mayor was showing respect of the Kansas Open Meetings Law that forbids two commissioners from speaking privately, outside an open meeting.

Kelley Hett and Travis Schafers, both of Marion, announce their engagement and approaching marriage. The couple plans to be married June 22 in Central Park.

Hard work of Marion High School FFA students and Marion Elementary School classes is on display in front of the elementary school. FFA members helped students plant flowers in the front lawn, and they are starting to sprout despite overall dry conditions.
