Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks Secretary Mike Hayden toured the Marion Elementary School outdoor classroom Thursday. “I love this,” he said. “Every school should have one. Hayden visited Marion on the invitation of Ginger Becker.

Marion High School boosters are preparing for after prom activities. The prom is April 27. The party will have a Mardi gras theme.

Births announced in this issue include Bethany Marie, daughter of Tyson and Melanie Grimmett, born March 28 and Chloe Dawn, daughter of Kevin and Kristina Burkholder born March 29.

Marion High School golfers Nickolas Hett and Joey Buchholz finished second Thursday in the two-man competition at Council Grove.

Two donors were inducted into the Century Club when the American Red Cross Bloodmobile visited Marion on Monday. Don Jolley and Erna Mae Yeagley of Marion each have given 100 units of blood.

An open house is planned for May 5 at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, Pilsen. Tours will be offered from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Refreshments will be served.

Donna Bernhardt, Marion, has been selected as one of nine to attend the first Kansas Press Association Leadership Academy. The academy will meet every other month for a year with most meetings to be in Topeka.
