Marion County has qualified for a $90,000 grant to clean and repair the courthouse. Kansas State Historical Society has sent a letter to commissioners, saying the Kansas Heritage Trust Fund grant was approved.

The 118th MHS graduation ceremony took place Sunday. The hour-long ceremony gave recognition to 40 students, including six foreign exchange students. Maggie Powers was named valedictorian. Becky Taylor was named salutatorian. Stacia Williams and Andrew Brookens were selected as outstanding seniors.

Marion Healthmart Pharmacy held a ribbon cutting ceremony Friday in recognition of a new line of Hallmark cards and gifts.

Piano students of Anita Hancock presenting a recital April 28 were Chelsea Voth, Ethan Hett, Megan Overton, Lexie Kruse, Melissa Carlson, Annie Whitaker, Emily Hett, Jessica Cleveland, Kayla Williams, Mitchell Leppke, Justin Heidebrecht, Kara Druse, Carla Carlson, Hannah Eis, Sarah Lowry, Cathy Whitaker, MaDonna Schafers, Ben Leppke, and Emily Davis.

Several Marion Elementary School students won prizes recently in a poster contest sponsored by St. Luke Hospital. They included Monica Spachek, Corey Shields, Jessie Taylor, Alex Cain, Emma Hett, Heather Looney, and Kristin Waner.

Trent Summars and his band, New Row Mob, will open for 38 Special June 1 at this year’s Chingawassa Days concert. Gates open at 6 p.m.
