With a theme of togetherness and cooperation, a grand opening was held Sunday at Marion City Library. The library occupies the former Santa Fe Depot. Its grand opening was the culmination of more than three years of work, $750,000 in expenses, and thousands of hours of volunteer labor.

Andy Holt of Marion has completed all requirements to become an Eagle Scout, the highest Scouting rank available.

Kansas Walleye Association held a tournament June 23 at Marion Reservoir. There were 62 teams participating with 24 teams weighing in a total of 174.6 pounds of walleye.

Elgin Apartments is expanding its services by offering bed and breakfast suites. Owners Jim and Jackie Strawn of Hutchinson opened a suite Sunday for tours.

A reunion of descendants of the Frank Burkholders was held July 6 and 7 at the Earl and Frances Hett home southwest of Marion. This year’s hosts were Don and Elsie Burkholder, their children Jerry, Jackie, and Penny, and their families.

Dr. Gerald and Heather Vinduska of Marion are parents of a daughter, Maggie Mae, born July 17 at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita.
