USD 408 board of education members, citing budget concerns, privacy issues, and questions about effectiveness, said Monday that they weren’t interested in renewing a drug testing policy.

Terry and Cindy Vinduska hosted very special visitors Thursday. They were a group of 18 Russians on tour in the United States for one week.

New teachers in the Marion-Florence Unified School District this year include Amy Budke, Susan Best, Carolyn Moore, Chris Ware, Laura Baldwin, and Stan Ploutz

Sarah Davidson of Marion, Cecilia Rziha of Tampa, and Raschelle Jirak of Ramona, all members of Holy Family Parish, attended World Youth Day July 21-29 at Toronto, Ontario, Canada. They were accompanied by Rose Davidson of Marion. Ramie Bina, formerly of Lincolnville, and Father John Jirak, formerly of Tampa, also attended from the Wichita parish.

Peabody native and former Marion medical professional Rebecca Ediger is featured in the current issue of
The Shocker, official magazine of WSU. The article tells of her career advancements and lists accomplishments. The loyal WSU alumna presently serves her country in the important assignment of protecting both president and first lady, George W. and Laura Bush.
