The Tim Janis Ensemble, which features contemporary classical music by a top-selling American composer, will perform Sept. 21 at Art in the Park.
Andrea Carlson, 16-year-old member of the Lincolnville Wide Awake 4-H Club, is the new Marion County 4-H Queen. She received her tiara and sash Aug. 7 during coronation ceremonies at Hillsboro.
Katrina Hancock, 1995 Marion High School graduate, is closer to home these days. She is weekend sports anchor/reporter at KSNT, Channel 27, the NBC affiliate in Topeka.
Carrie Darrow, a senior at Kansas State University, has returned from a year’s study in Spain. In addition to her studies and travel throughout Spain, she spent time visiting England, France, Italy, and Greece.

Births announced this week are those of a daughter, Haley Jean, born at Newton Aug. 6 to Rick and Pam Loewen of Hillsboro and a daughter, Maggie Alice, born at Manhattan Aug. 15 to Brad and Sharon Matz of Lincolnville.
