Marion City Library is earning state and national acclaim. Kansas Government Journal featured Marion in an article on renovation of historic buildings and also received mention by Hennon’s American Public Library Ratings Index, as ranking 814th out of 1,629 similar size nationwide.

Centre High School’s Fall Homecoming king and queen are Kyle Luna, son of George and Dawn Luna, and Ashlee Bowman, daughter of Sam and Dena Bowman, all of Lincolnville.

Rachel Davidson hosted a slumber party at her home Friday night. Those attending were Katie Whitaker, Ranell Schroeder, Lena O’Connor, Hilary Regalado, and Krista Stafford.

About 300 persons attended the 50th anniversary celebration of St. Luke Hospital on Old Settlers’ Day. A highlight of the day was the visit from the order of Catholic sisters who staffed it after it was built.

Marion High School students of the month are Nikki Moody, daughter of Sherie Moody and John Mulvenon, and Alan Vogel, son of Randal and Carol Vogel.

Following the Past Masters Banquet Oct. 8, Centre Lodge #147 AF & AM presented 50-year membership pins to three master masons, Velber Bevan, Rosse Case, and Bill Meyer.
