Traffic in downtown Marion was limited to one lane for a time Friday morning following a seven-vehicle accident. After two vehicles collided on Main Street, the impact sent one car careening into five cars parked on the north side of the street in the 300 block of East Main. The driver in one vehicle involved in the initial impact sustained minor injury but refused treatment.

Chelse Brunner and Mark Pagenkopf were named winter homecoming royalty Friday during Centre High School’s game with St. Xavier of Junction City.

A rash of water breaks has kept Marion city crews busy in recent days, Public Works Director Harvey Sanders reported to city commissioners on Monday. He also reported city crews cleared snow this past week, cleaned sidewalks and removed several tree piles from a railroad spur line.

Marjory Sardou and Jack Boese of Marion were united in marriage Dec. 20 at Valley United Methodist Church.

The Marion High School debate squad qualified for state competition Jan. 24-25 at Blue Valley. Squad members are Kathrin Lange, Amanda Steiner, Sarah Davidson, Adam Guetersloh, Eric Steiner, Andy Holt, and Jacob Taylor.
