Marion City Commission members approved the sale Monday of two lots and 80-feet of another lot in the city’s business park for $5,000. Marion soon will be getting a retail and manufacturing business—a marble manufacturing facility.

Kayla Barrett and Jarvis Whiteman were named 2003 Queen and King of Courts Friday night during halftime of the Marion-Herington basketball game.

The third and fourth grade boys’ basketball team from Marion completed the season with a 7-1 record. Players pictured on this week’s Sports Page are Scott Jones, Connor Thierolf, Josh Timm, Dillon Richmond, Jared Vondenkamp, David Helmer, Travis Williams, Brandon Meierhoff, Justin Rahe, Jordan Versch, and Matt Sprowls.

An open house is planned for Saturday to honor the 80th birthday of Margaret Jirak. It will be held at the senior center in Tampa and hosted by her 12 children—Marie, Florence, Francis, Irene, Leonard, Rita, Mike, Ann, Ron, Steve, Mark, and Greg.

Marion High School students Tomi McLinden and Chelsea Arnhold served Feb. 12 as legislative pages for state Senator Jay Scott Emler of Lindsborg. The girls are pictured with Gov. Kathleen Sebelius in her office at the state capitol.
