Pastor Rick Branson delivered a short address at Monday morning’s Memorial Day program at Marion Cemetery. The honor guard/firing squad was commanded by Dan Holub and composed of fellow veterans Jim Davis, Greg Bowers, Rosse Case, Bill Holdeman, Bud Hannaford, Jack Swain, Marvin Rediker, Leland Heidebrecht, and Harold Conyers and Army soldiers Steven Waner, Heather Holub, and Tamara Holub.

Marion High School will send six athletes to the Class 3A regional meet in Wichita. The group includes Joel Versch, Zac Ewert, Steven Boone, Alan Vogel, Tyler Smith, and Casey Nelson.

Warren Kreutziger of Marion is profiled in the May-June edition of Kansas Wildlife and Parks magazine. The story is about fishing for catfish at Marion Reservoir.

The Right Reverend Monsignor Arthur Tonne, 98, former Catholic priest at Pilsen and longtime community advocate in Marion, died May 20 at Heritage Park Care Center in Carbondale, Colo.

Marion City Commission heard from Bob Brooks of Brooks Development Tuesday about his company’s plan to erect an assisted living facility in Marion.

Fifth and Main streets will be the scene of an old-fashioned “shoot-out” during Chingawassa Days. Wild West Gunfighters of Wichita will perform skits and show off their gun fighting skills.
