The first load of wheat to come in to Marion elevators from the 2003 harvest arrived Monday at Cooperative Grain and Supply. The quality of wheat was good, according to the elevator employee.
Kelly (Hett) Schafers of Marion was selected to attend the annual National Head Start Conference held May 27 to June 1 in New York City. USD 259, Wichita, sponsored the all expense paid trip.
Births announced in this issue are Shaylee Faith, daughter of Mark and Danelle Leiker of Lincoln, Neb., born May 29 and Ian Robert Kleinschmidt, son of Jeff and Sarah Kleinschmidt of Shawnee, born June 3.
Lois Weber and Frances Kreutziger are pictured receiving pins from Donna Kreutziger in recognition of the volunteer work they do sewing for Veterans Administration hospitals and convalescent homes.
The 14th reunion of country schools, hosted by the Dody family, was held June 8 at the Marion Senior Center. The first reunion was held in May 1987. It was attended by former students of Phillips and Grapes schools. Youngtown and District 56 were included in 1993. The next reunion will be in June 2005. The Adams family will serve as hosts.
