Marion County Courthouse is getting a face-lift. An employee of Mid-Continental Restoration Company, Inc., of Fort Scott is pictured using a power washer to clean the limestone. The county received a grant from the Kansas Heritage Trust Fund to refurbish the exterior of the building, which is on the National Register of Historic Places.

Senator Pat Roberts has announced nearly $5,000 in federal funds has been released for bullet resistant vests for Marion County law enforcement officers.

“Beary Special Babies” at St. Luke Hospital this past month were Logan Joyce Wonser, born June 8, and Madison Diane Hinton, born June 16.

“An Evening of Fractured Fairy Tales” will be presented July 11 and 12 at the Marion City Auditorium. Five plays will be presented in the annual Children’s Theater production of Marion/Florence Recreation. Tricia Parker of Hillsboro is director. Her assistant director is Cathy Whitaker of Marion. A total of 35 kids are involved.

The descendants of Steve and Ida Sandwell held an annual potluck dinner Sunday at the Boy Scout clubhouse in Hillsboro.
