CVL 11-year-old All Stars defeated Rose Hill July 28 to win the state title. Members of the team are Jacob Edwards, Shawn Talkington, Jim Lauer, Cody Wildin, Tyler Ediger, Dillon Wildin, Brandon Line, Wil Case, Jacob Fish, Isaac Hett, Adam Maag, Ben Green, Heath Hill, and Brian Fruechting. The team now moves on as Kansas’ representative to the Midwest Plains Invitational.

Ninety-one children took part in the summer reading program at Marion City Library. Cassandra Stang was the top book reader with 82 and Rachel Davidson read the most pages, 22,578.

The month’s “Beary Special Babies” born at St. Luke Hospital were Mackenzie J. Paige Eden, born July 9, Campbell Wade Winter, July 23, and Melanie Nicole Garrett, July 31.

Paige Schneider has been promoted by the board of directors of Marion National Bank to the office of assistant cashier. She has been with the bank for six years, serving in operations and customer service areas.
