The 25th annual Art in the Park is slated for Saturday in Marion’s Central Park. This year there will be 230 vendors, the “maximum we take” according to Judy Christensen, chairman of the festivities.

There is one confirmed case of West Nile Virus in Marion County. It is of a Marion adult. Unconfirmed rumors are that there have been two cases in Tampa, one in Hillsboro, and one in Durham.

Six seniors at Marion High School are king and queen candidates for football Homecoming 2003 Friday night. They are Amy Tajchman, Brandie Peterie, Emma Parli, Neil Waner, Calvin Riggs, and Tyler Stubenhofer. Crowning will take place at half time of the football game between Marion and Sacred Heart of Salina.

More than 6,000 wild mustangs that formerly grazed the valleys of Nevada, Utah, and Wyoming have a new home on the Vestring Ranch in the Flint Hills of Kansas. The wild mustangs and colts will be separated. The mares will return to pasture while the colts were shipped to the Kansas correctional facility at Hutchinson where they are gentled and trained by inmates, then adopted out to private individuals.
