Marion’s Ampride store, 1225 E Main, is the winner of the Circle of Pride award for customer excellence, store manager Laura Legg told Marion Chamber of Commerce members Friday during their monthly meeting. Other big news for the store is that it sold a ticket for a $100,000 Powerball winner on Oct. 12.

Marion Elementary School kindergartners from Mrs. Fahey’s afternoon class are pictured as they visited Walter’s Pumpkin Patch near Burns. Students enjoyed a hayrack ride and meeting the scarecrow in the pumpkin patch. The morning class also visited.

Jeff and Terri Bina of Marion are the parents of a son, Quinten Jeffery Bina, born Oct. 19 at St. Luke Hospital.

Marlene Bernhardt of Marion joined several classmates and their spouses from her Sioux City, Iowa, high school graduating class of 1953, on a cruise to Mexico Sept. 29-Oct. 3. Bernhardt was accompanied by her two daughters, Cindy Moore and Shelli Hardey, both of Marion.

MHS Warriors, who won the first Cottonwood Valley League championship in 1928, closed out the final game of the league fittingly, with a victory over Wichita Independent to secure the final CVL championship.
