Marion Christian Church will observe its 125th anniversary Nov. 9 with a variety of activities. The public is invited to a coffee time and worship service in the morning and a re-dedication and tea service in the afternoon.

Molly Rhodes and Torey Hett, both juniors, have been named Students of the Month for October at Marion High School. Molly’s parents are Bruce and Brenda Rhodes. Torey is the son of Dave and Michele Hett and Bill and Jamie Shirley.

Bride-elect Christine Laue was guest of honor Saturday at a come-and-go shower at Marion Christian Church. The event was hosted by Marge Summervill, Donna Hayen, Viola Kelsey, Donna Fruechting, Joyce Smith, and Lenore Mitchell-Dieter.

Richard Schwartz of Marion has been appointed by Congressman Jerry Moran to serve on the First District Service Academy Selection Board.

Stephen and Rachel Koehn, owners of Burns Café and Bakery, recently purchased the adjoining building. Workmen are busily remodeling the building to house an expanded Burns Café.

Judith Priest of Marion County Park and Lake recently entertained four former schoolmates from Wichita East High School. They have a common bond in that all played the violin in the school orchestra.
