The Archdiocese for the Military Services-USA will present the first annual pilgrimage to Pilsen Nov. 11, Veterans Day, in honor of Father Emil Kapaun.
Helen and Dwight Beckham and Monty Thomas of Marion County Lake made a presentation to the Marion County Commission Friday. The National Association of the Civilian Conservation Corps has a goal to erect a statue in every state of a Civilian Conservation Corps worker. It is proposed to erect such a statue by the flagpole at the lake entrance.

Winners were announced Thursday in the Marion High School costume contest, sponsored by the MHS Future Educators of America. Prizes went as follows: Scary category: Wendy Hager, Jenna Parli, and Clay Riggs; open class category: Stacey Bauman, Megan Whitaker, and Morgan Cady; creative category: Rebecca Savage Lee Ownby, and Chelsea Arnhold; traditional category, Amy Goering, Kylie Hardey, and Misty Richmond.
