Marion Police Department was kept busy Sunday evening responding to reports of vandalism to vehicles. Early estimates range from $300 to more than $1,000 damage done to windows at Casey’s General Store and 14 vehicles. It appears that a BB or pellet gun was used to inflict the damage.

Construction on Marion Assisted Living will begin Dec. 15, according to manager Robert Brooks. It is expected that the facility, which is located at 200 Eisenhower Drive, will open in August 2004.

Marion will be losing one of its most dedicated volunteers when Randee Loomis and her husband Larry, retired president of Marion National Bank, move to Manhattan in December.

Marion Elementary School students cheered loudly Friday when they learned they had exceeded their reading goal by 6,771 minutes. They cheered even louder because their principal, Stan Ploutz, would have to kiss a pig because they had exceeded their goal.
