The final two births scheduled to take place in St. Luke Hospital occurred Thursday — the same day at nearly the same time. Flames quickly engulfed Hillsboro Mennonite Brethren Church Sunday afternoon when fire erupted in the sanctuary of the church. Area fire departments from Hillsboro, Marion, Durham, Peabody, Goessel, county fire districts, Galva, Canton, and Newton responded to the emergency, which started in the sanctuary of the church.

Marion High School drum line gave a thunderous performance Thursday night during halftime of the Hillsboro High School/Southwest of Saline sub-state tournament game. The drummers are Jake Smith, Joel Zeiner, Casey Baker, Logan Fowler, Tim Shuler, Nick Carlson, Chelsi Carlson, and Josh Yerion.

Anniversaries to be celebrated soon and reported in this issue are the 50th of Jim and Earline Magathan, married March 24, 1954, and the 25th of Betty and Harvey Sanders, married March 17, 1979.
