Marion’s Friends of the Park kept busy Thursday morning in Central Park. Pictured are John Brose, Shirley Jo Hett, Eloise Mueller, and Ella Brose planting flowers in the flowerbed near the front entrance so they will be in bloom by Memorial Day.

Several members of the Ozark Chapter of the 11th Airborne Division and its women’s auxiliary met Saturday at Kingfisher’s Inn. Chapter president is former Marion resident, Kenneth Sly of Salina.

Mindy Maag and Clayton Chamberland, both seniors, have been named Students of the Month for the month of May. Mindy’s parents are Roger Maag and Kerry Maag. Clayton is the son of Jim and Pat Chamberland.

Three Marion County seniors have been named governor’s scholars. Sarah Davidson and William Tyler Stubenhofer, Marion High School seniors and Todd Stahlecker, Centre High School senior, were recognized May 2 by Governor Kathleen Sebelius at the 21st Annual Governor’s Scholars Award program in Topeka.
