Summer is rapidly drawing to a close for students living in Marion-Florence USD 408. Aug. 20 will be the first full day for all students in the district.

Jennifer Gaines, RN, has been hired as director of Marion Assisted Living. The residence is near completion and expects to open in late September.

Bailey Skiles, daughter of Bruce and Belinda Skiles of Marion, will leave in September for Morocco where she will serve as a Peace Corps volunteer for approximately two years.

Residents of
Elm Street in Marion attended National Night Out Aug. 1 in the yard of Stan and Ruth Reed. The Reeds and Louise Colburn were hosts for the evening.

Descendants of Richard and Bridget Costello met Saturday at Marion County Lake for their second biennial reunion. Reunion hosts were Edward and Mary Costello and their children.

In the first ever Cal Ripken 9-year-olds’ tournament, the CVL champs finished third.

Jessica L. Davis of Marion was named to the spring 2004 honor roll at the Art Institute of Houston. A 2003 graduate of Marion High School, she is the daughter of Jim and Jan Davis.
