Marion Advancement Campaign is planning a barn dance and auction Oct. 2. The event is a fund-raiser for the foundation and a show of appreciation to the Marion community for its continued support.

Andrew Brookens told Marion Kiwanians on Monday of his experiences during the spring semester as a student at a university in the midlands of England. A junior at Baldwin University, Brookens is the son of Bob and Anita Brookens.

Eight members of Leadership Marion County will graduate Monday. Graduates include Chris Bielefeld and Ken Perry, Peabody; Elise Brunhoeber, Burns; Matt Dalke, Hillsboro; Tina Groening and Jo Ottensmeier, Marion; Mark Moore, Florence; and Darryl Thiesen, Goessel.

Two longtime employees who work out of the Marion office of the Kansas Department of Social and Rehabilitation Services are retiring. Joan Davis is retiring after almost 40 years and LaDonna Sherbert is retiring after more than 25 years.
